Fewer things are as spooky and whimsical as Shaggy Mane mushrooms, also known as Inky Cap mushrooms! These little fungi start off looking like cotton swabs and turn into black, drippy umbrellas as they grow. Shaggy Mane mushrooms are indeed edible (please always triple-check your forage finds for harmful lookalikes and stay safe!) and can even be used to make actual ink. Most of my paintings come from thoughts on spirituality and mental health, but this painting in particular exists because I just think these little guys are neat! So, with that, may these drippy, purple, inky mushrooms be a happy reminder to explore the world around you and to have fun doing it!
